philanthropist.org July Newsletter

An exciting month of June at philanthropist.org!  The startup social enterprise continues to recruit changemakers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, volunteers, micro-philanthropists and would-be philanthropists to further its Mission and "Help ALL People Become Philanthropists". Philanthropist.org software developers and programmers have been hard at work building the platform with fundraisers, and development personell currently focused on building the first philanthropist.org Leadership Circle. Leaders join a team of 7 Founders, 15 Advisors and numerous Volunteers with a front row seat of the startup process and represent numerous backgrounds from academia, industry, media, business, non-profits, government, and other fields. The Leadership Circle of philanthropist.org is a broad and diverse group of donors, and are often consulted by the philanthropist.org Board of Directors to help guide and offer strategic advice.

Micro-Finance Field Study

Looking for short-term volunteering opportunities?
philanthropist.org offers the perfect solution to all types of groups!  Measured change at philanthropist.org means dozens of face-to-face interactions that otherwise would not have been possible… meaningful personal connections and friendships, life-long stories, and new crops of globally aware, socially responsible citizens! With its 5-day mini-mission-voluntourism trips, on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday....those with full-time work or student schedules can still gain these experiences.  The Micro-Finance Field Study Agenda includes a brief stop over at the Columbus museum (on Columbus Day!). This date is now set, WE ARE GOING on Thursday, October 7th 2010 - Monday October 11th 2010. Learn More!  La Isabela in the Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic is considered the first formal European settlement in the New World. Despite its history it suffers from poverty like much of the developing world. Set among some of the country’s most rugged countryside and bordered by magnificent beaches, La Isabela breathes history as the site of the first permanent colonial settlement in the Americas. The bay protects a placid expanse of ocean, while a pristine white beach looks much as it must have done in 1493 when Christopher Columbus decided to establish a town on this spot, named in honor of the Spanish Queen. Interested parties inquire within, Fellowships opportunities may be available. Thanks again to JetBlue Airlines for its support!
